What is the Gracie Diet and is it worth trying?

Everybody loves food but it’s important to know what kind of food you’re putting in your body to live a healthy life. Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods that give you the nutrients you need to maintain your health, feel well, and have energy. These nutrients include protein, carbohydrates, fat, water, supplements, and minerals.

If you’re looking for a new diet plan, consider the Gracie Diet. While it’s not the same as living the Alkaline Way (click here for free Alkaline Way Guide), it has some similarities that make it a strong diet to follow.

Key Points of Gracie Diet:

  1.  Foods are divided into six groups
  2.  How you mix the foods in each group is one of the keys to success
  3.  Cooked meals or fruit-based meals
  4.  When to eat is as important as what to eat
  5.  Know the ingredients in your meal

What is the Gracie Diet?

Gracie Diet is a nutrition method developed by Carlos Gracie and has been passed on through the generations within and outside the Gracie family. Carlos Gracie fairly believed in the potential of food to protect the body, enhance immunity, and prevent diseases.

Gracie Diet deals with not poisoning the body, not letting it get sick, and establishing the appropriate balance for its nourishment. The main key thought behind this diet is to keep the pH of meals neutral, balancing the substances through the proper combination.

The one basic principle behind the Gracie Diet is simplicity. What this means is that you eat food that your body can handle. Furthermore, you combine the food chart in a manner that optimizes the body’s ability to digest it. Fresh fruit, greens, some meat, cheese and plenty of water make the Gracie Diet one of the more simplistic and easy-to-follow diets out there.

The Beginning of the Gracie Diet

Roger Gracie’s mother, Relia Gracie, wrote a biographical book about Master Carlos Gracie and the Gracie family. It describes the start of the diet from an Alkaline lifestyle, and how he was subsequently hired by a hospital to create their specific nutritional diet. This was due to his success in avoiding contracting tuberculosis for his wife in the hospital for years.

The Gracie Diet is a diet which follows the method of eating that was compiled and used first-hand by Master Carlos Gracie. Over a 65 year period of research and experimentation, this book was created to show others the methods of the diet. The Gracie Diet is broken into different parts including an introduction to the diet and how to use it. You will learn how to use the right food combinations to make the most of your health. The book talks about why the food industry isn’t interested in your health so you have to look out for yourself.

How to Adopt the Gracie Diet

One of the first things you do when starting the Gracie Diet has established a base point. You have to know where you are currently to track your results and set your goals. You assess your current eating and drinking habits through a brief survey. The results of this survey will give a dietary snapshot of how you’re eating habits may be affecting how you feel and what’s going on with your body. If you don’t like where you are currently, the Gracie Diet gives you a plan to make changes that are easy to follow. You start with small changes through different phases.

The Gracie Diet is a nutrition plan straight out of the Gracie household. You will see results in a couple of weeks as long as you keep an open mind. One of the benefits you may notice after implementing The Gracie Diet principles is an increase of energy and a decrease in stomach aches, headaches, heartburn and irregular bowel movements.

Combination of Groups

Eating the proper food combinations is the key to the diet while the wrong combinations can be harmful. You can choose whether to implement all of the principles of The Gracie Diet at once or slowly implement them.

The combination of food is a little bit complicated in the starting phase than the other diet system and you may take some time to learn it. However, once you learn the combinations and the correct portions, it is an easy diet to follow. This diet also helps in eliminating the unnecessary snacks and desserts and make more conscious choices in time to create your meal. Foods are separated into six different groups:

Group AVegetables, Meats, Seafood, Fats and Oily foods

(Foods that combine with each other and also mix with Group B)

Group B –Starches

(Foods that do not combine with each other)

Group C –Sweet fruits & foods, fresh and creamy cheeses

(Foods that combine with each other and also mix with Group B, so long as they are not prepared with fat)

Group D –Acidic Fruits

(These foods do not combine with each other or any other Group)

Group E –Raw Bananas

(Compatible with: Food from Group B, Raw or crushed banana, Egg yolks, Milk & derivatives except curds and yoghurt)

Group F –Milk
